Randi Berry

Randi is a founding member & co-Artistic Director of Wreckio Ensemble. She was last seen as Pixie in Karly Maurer’s Rooftops. She was also seen in and co-wrote Wreckio’s production of The Ladies Aide Society Invites You To A Poverty Party To Benefit The Foundation For Ethical Art And Culture. Other Wreckio roles include Day Fantasist-BOB in Me, Myself, I and the Others, various characters in the Based on a True Story series, Mother in Gravediggers, various characters in Wrestling Porcelain which she co-wrote, Myrenie in Lysistrata, Number Four in The Corner which ran in the NY International Fringe Festival at PS 122, various characters in Gint and The Burglar’s Wife in The Virtuous Burglar. Randi has also been seen as Agave in U.R Faust, a movement theater piece performed in Athens, Greece, Wendy in 27 – an original one woman show, Agnes in A Bright Room Called Day, Du in Keely and Du, Paulina in A Winter’s Tale and Dunyasha in The Cherry Orchard. Directing credits include Betrayal and My Mother Said I Never Should.

Dechelle Damien

Dechelle is a founding member & co-Artistic Director of Wreckio Ensemble. She was last seen as Jackett in Karly Maurer’s Rooftops. Other Wreckio roles include various characters in The Ladies Aide Society Invites You To A Poverty Party To Benefit The Foundation For Ethical Art And Culture which was part of the chashama residency program and toured to Dublin, Ireland, various characters Naked and in the Based on a True Story series, Gravedigger 1 in Gravediggers, Cecy in Wrestling Porcelain which she co-wrote, Lysistrata in Lysistrata, Number Two in The Corner which ran in the NY International Fringe Festival at PS 122, Oldie Mama in Gint and Anna in The Virtuous Burglar. She wrote & co-directed Me, Myself, I and the Others , October 2007.Other credits include Harriet in Sandwich (2007 Wonderland Festival, nominated for Best Actress), Lyubov in The Cherry Orchard, Isa in Isadora Libre (American Living Room Festival 1999), Gertrude in OverFaust (Florida Dance Festival 1999) Lady Fanciful in The Provok’d Wife, Maggie in Dancing at Lughnasa Smith in Three Penny Opera and Linda/Sammy in storming the kingdom – an original one-woman show. She toured Germany with The Sisters You (2000) and Fat Peggy’s Sober Property at the TAT Depot (2001). Dechelle is a graduate of New World School of the Arts.

As a set designer, Dechelle has received critical acclaim for her design for Wrestling Porcelain. She has also designed the sets for Wreckio Ensemble’s productions of Gravediggers and Gint.

Michelle Diaz

Michie HS1Michelle is a founding member of Wreckio Ensemble. She was last seen in Gravediggers as Gravedigger 2 . She co-wrote and played various characters in Wrestling Porcelain at the Ontological Hysteric Theater, Access Theater and the Music Hall at Snug Harbor. Other Wreckio roles include Kalonike in Lysistrata and various characters in Gint. Michelle wrote and directed The Corner which appeared at PS 122 during the 2002 Fringe Festival. She appeared in Richard Foreman’s King Cowboy Rufus Rules the Universe. Other credits include a National tour of Pedro Calderon de la Barca’s Mornings of April and May, and The Cure at Troy, performed in Greece. Some of her favorite roles include Varya in The Cherry Orchard, Rose in Dancing at Lughnasa, and Hedvig in The Wild Duck. Michelle also wrote and performed Tiniebla – a one-person show. She has appeared in independent films and TV shows. She is currently receiving her MFA in Acting from University of CA in San Diego, where she was last seen as Fiorella in Labrynth of Desire by Lope de Vega and translated by Caridad Svich.

Karly Maurer

Karly Maurer is a founding member of Wreckio Ensemble. She has written two original plays that have been produced and performed by Wreckio: Rooftops (2009) in the Milagro Theater at CSV Cultural Center and Gravediggers (2005, directed) in the Ontological-Hysteric Theater. She co-wrote The Ladies Aide Society Invites You To A Poverty Party To Benefit The Foundation For Ethical Art And Culture (2008) and Wrestling Porcelain (2003) with fellow Wreckio members. She has had the pleasure of playing ‘Various Characters’ in Wreckio productions: The Ladies Aide Society Invites You To A Poverty Party To Benefit The Foundation For Ethical Art And Culture presented at chashama in NYC and Thisisnotashop gallery in Dublin, Ireland, Based on a True Story… (2006-2008) in bars around the Lower East Side, and Wrestling Porcelain (2003-2004) at Access Theater, The Ontological-Hysteric Theater, and Snug Harbor. Two Wreckio acting credits where she researched numerological meanings to help define her characters were in: Michelle Diaz’ The Corner as Number One (2008 & 2002) at the Red Room and P.S. 122 and Dechelle Damien’s Me, Myself, I and the Others as Eye the Third (2007) at Wings Theater. She was nominated for Best Actress at the 2007 Wonderland Festival for her portrayal of Helen in Jessamyn Fiore’s Sandwich. Karly has also written and directed her one-person show, Three Doors (2000) and is co-writing Wreckio’s fall production, along with her own scripts Seen From a Recession: A Series of Ten-Minute Plays and a full-length surrealist-puppet inspired piece, The Dream Play.

Kimberlea Kressal
Artistic Associate

Kimberlea Kressal is a director and playwright living in New York City. She is an Artistic Associate for Wreckio Ensemble for whom she directs and writes regularly. Most recently, she directed Karly Maurer’s Rooftops at the Milagro Theater. She also conceived, directed and co-authored The Ladies Aide Society Invites You to A Poverty Party to Benefit The Foundation for Ethical Art and Culture, for which Wreckio was granted a chashama Performing Arts Residency and an opportunity to travel the show to Dublin, Ireland. In 2007 she received the “Best Director” award at The Wonderland Festival for her direction of Sandwich starring Wreckio Ensemble’s co-Artistic Directors, Dechelle Damien and Karly Maurer. She is a Founder and former Artistic Director of the New York City based women’s theatre company, the estro-tribe. For her work as a director and arts educator, Kimberlea has been featured in Backstage Magazine, The New Times, and The Palm Beach Post and her self-conceived and directed production Menstruation, Manipulation, Mutilation; Herstory was listed in Time Out New York’s “100 Reasons to See NY Theater.” Kimberlea spent three years as Artistic Coordinator and Dean of Admissions for the Dreyfoos School of the Arts in South Florida. She has served as a member of the Palm Beach Cultural Council, Committee Member for the SUNFEST Arts and Music Festival, and Arts Ambassador for The Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. She has been a frequent guest speaker for philanthropic organizations and a presenter at national conferences on the topic of developing and funding arts education programs. In 2008 she completed the book and lyrics for a new musical, The Lesbian Love Octagon; a musical comedy about dyke drama, with composer Will Larche. She directed three staged readings of the musical during the summer of 2009, which were performed at WOW Cafe Theatre and Dixon Place and played to sold out houses.

Some of her favorite directing credits include: The Corner, Me, Myself, I and the Others, Teach a Girl to Fish, Sweet Ugly, Menstruation, Manipulation, Mutilation; Herstory (2000 Audience Favorite Award – NY International Fringe Festival), Bitch Witch Vamp Tramp Virgin Whore Goddess, The Game, Medea, The Life and Death of King John, Matsukaze, The Serpent, and Ragtime. Additionally, Kimberlea has worked with activist groups creating and performing site-specific street theatre. She is the recipient of the Robert Moss Directing Award. In June of 2009 Go Magazine listed her as one of their “100 Women We Love for 2009.” She received her BFA in Directing from NYU, Tisch School of the Arts where she currently serves as a Directing Mentor for 3rd and 4th year undergraduate directing students.
