We’re excited to announce that Kimberlea Kressal has joined Wreckio Ensemble as its Artistic Associate. Over the last year she has contributed immensely to Wreckio’s growth both artistically and organizationally. In 2007 she co-directed Me, Myself, I and the Others with Dechelle Damien. For Wreckio’s 2008 season she will direct Naked and The Ladies Aide Society… and in 2009 she will direct Rooftops. Would you believe it, but she is also writing two new plays: A musical entitled The Lesbian Love Octagon and an untitled piece about the Cuban Exodus.

Wreckio’s company class ended on March 18th at the Christie Street Ballet Academy where classes consisted of Chakra exploration, Viewpoint exercises, and Directorial Composition. Classes will resume in August 2008.

Wreckio has been awarded The Residency @ Chashama at 217 E. 42nd Street beginning June 1st for six weeks to aid in the creation, rehearsal, and performance of our collaborative, original piece The Ladies Aide Society Invites You to a Poverty Party to Benefit the Foundation for Ethical Art and Culture.

Wreckio has been awarded a grant from the Morris and Alma Shapiro Fund for the development of their new piece, The Ladies Aide Society Invites You to a Poverty Party to Benefit the Foundation for Ethical Art and Culture. This piece will have its international debut in Dublin, Ireland at Thisisnotashop gallery in July 2008.

Jessamyn Fiore, playwright of Sandwich and curator, will present Wreckio Ensemble’s new work The Ladies Aide Society Invites You to a Poverty Party to Benefit the Foundation for Ethical Art and Culture at her gallery Thisisnotashop in Dublin, Ireland 2008.

‘Best’ at the 2007 WonderLand One-Act Festival. Kimberlea Kressal was awarded ‘Best Director’ for Jessamyn Fiore’s original play Sandwich. Co-Artistic Directors Dechelle Damien and Karly Maurer both received nominations for ‘Best Actress’ for their portrayals of Harriet and Helen in Sandwich.
