Based on a True Story is a piece written soley from letters, journal entries and notes submitted by Wreckio’s audience. It was the company’s job to sew those voices together, without altering one word, to make a cohesive story about the human experience. Wreckio hosted three performance events to showcase this new material in alternative theater spaces throughout 2006, and a month long run of Based on a True Story: The Sex Edition in April of 2007. Me, Myself, I and the Others is a comedy that takes place in the head of a 34-yr old woman. Eight characters struggle to find a sense of self while banding together to confront a recurring issue. This production was supported by the Morris and Alma Schapiro Fund and The Puffin Foundation, Ltd.

Gravediggers

In a post-apocalyptic, warring world, two Gravediggers abandon their official duties of burying soldier corpses to settle an ongoing argument. The battle of “who’s right and who’s wrong” is interrupted when a wealthy Mother and Son seeking political refuge infiltrate their home. These conflicting socio-economic classes have to work together once the “Representative of the State” tests their patriotism and loyalties to each other. Gravediggers ran for six weeks. This production was supported by The Puffin Foundation, Ltd.

The Virtuous Burglar

Wreckio produced a boldly kinetic reading of Dario Fo’s one-act political satire in which special movement sequences were developed to heighten the play-reading experience.

Gint

Wreckio chose Romulus Linney’s fanciful adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s Peer Gynt as its inaugural production. Set in 20th century Appalachia with truckloads of quirky characters, Gint got a full staging at The Gershwin Theater. Gint had a cast of nine playing 39 roles.
